Why I built Libertoo
I’m Arik, the founder. Libertoo is the recovery coach I wished existed: one you can be completely honest with, because it’s built so that no one — including me — can read what you tell it.
The moment it started
I’ve spent my career in cybersecurity, protecting enterprises’ most sensitive data. Then I read that one of the most popular recovery apps had leaked hundreds of thousands of users’ most intimate records — and misled them about it. The people who most needed privacy got the least of it.
Recovery runs on honesty, and honesty needs a place that cannot betray you. That’s the whole reason this exists.
What I'm building
A proactive coach — one that learns when you’re most at risk, checks in before the urge instead of after the slip, and holds you to the commitments you make — running on an architecture that can’t read what you save to it. Your journal and conversations are encrypted on your device with a key I never hold.
I don’t ask you to trust that promise. The design is written out in plain words on the privacy architecture page — including the honest limits, like the fact that the coach has to read your message in transit to answer it. I’d rather show you the boundary than pretend there isn’t one.
What this is — and isn't
Libertoo is coaching, not therapy or medical treatment, and it never pretends otherwise. It works for any addiction — porn, gambling, gaming, doomscrolling, drinking, smoking, or whatever has its hooks in you. For alcohol and other drugs it will coach the decision and the daily fight, but it insists that quitting happens with a doctor involved, because withdrawal can be medically dangerous. If you’re in crisis, it routes you to human help, every time.
Who I am
My background is in security, not clinical care — and I think it matters that I say so plainly rather than borrow authority I don’t have. What I bring is a hard-won instinct for how sensitive data gets exposed, and a refusal to build anything that could expose yours.

The journal, progress, and games are free with no account. The coach is the paid part, and you can cancel it in one tap.
